The first vintage was released in 2006 as a partnership among friends – the husband wife team of Larry and MaryAnne Tsai and Mike Moone. Today it is a culmination of many years combined experience in the Napa wine industry. Mike Moone has built an enviable career with over 40 years in the food and wine industry. He was President of Beringer Wine Estates, he founded Luna Vineyards as well as Silverado Properties which currently farms over 5000 vineyard acres in Northern California.
Enviable Luxury: If most fine wines are like Jimmy Choo shoes, then Moone Tsai is a pair of custom made Christian Louboutins. Rare and remarkable craftsmanship expertly executed.
Moone-Tsai Winemaker Philippe Melka trained throughout Bordeaux is the man behind many of California’s best wineries including Hundred Acre, Bryant Family, Dana Estate and Moone-Tsai. Sought after among the world’s top collectors, Moone-Tsai’s current vintage has just been released and you have first access.
The lion. The noble, yet golden lion, adorned on every bottle is the embodiment of an ongoing mission to find balance between elegance and power. The lion acts as an important compass in life and in winemaking for owner, Larry Tsai and the team who have dedicated themselves to ensure every sip of their delicious wine follows this careful and rewarding philosophy.
Grapes from Napa Valley's most celebrated vineyard blocks, To Kalon, Pritchard Hill, and Caldwell’s legendary Block-15, create Moone-Tsai’s signature expressive nose. Enticed with aromas of blackberry and spice. In the mouth, these give way to layers of rich, ripe black fruits that are subtly nuanced with minerality, cocoa, and clove. Twenty six months of aging in 90% new French oak provides elegant framing for this wine's concentration and intensity. With its seamless integration of both sweet and finely grained tannins, the wine is opulent on the palate, and delivers a silky finish of length and elegance. Philippe Melka, Winemaker
